A new website - www.Stop744.com - was released today leading the effort to defeat State Question 744 which would require that Oklahoma spend and additional $850 million in taxpayer monies.

From OFRG's press release:

Oklahomans for Responsible Government is proud to announce the creation of a new website dedicated to informing the public about the real dangers of State Question 744, set to go before a vote of the people in November.  The site (www.STOP744.com) is designed to tell the whole story about the measure put on the ballot by the Oklahoma Education association (OEA).

“The OEA has only been telling half of the story,” said OFRG Executive Director Brian Downs.  “They want you to believe that State Question 744 will have no impact on the state’s budget while everyone in charge of the budget from Governor Henry on down says it’s a bad idea.”

STOP744.com will give the public access to figures on the true cost of SQ 744, including higher taxes and/or massive budget cuts in addition to those already imposed by the budget shortfall.  The website will also allow the public to get involved by signing an online petition, engaging in several social media forums or requesting someone to come and speak to their neighborhood or civic group about SQ 744.

“Time after time, individuals and groups have been shocked to learn the devastating effects of State Question 744,” said Downs.  “Our hope is that every voter in the state will visit STOP744.com before making their decision in November.”

If you feel passionate about wasteful spending and believe in a more responsible and transparent government, then I highly recommend you become involved in this effort.  To educate yourself on SQ 744, visit the fact page on Stop744.com.
