Know any activist who has made a positive difference in your community?  If so, be sure to nominate them for a Sammies Award.

Here's an email I received from American Majority about the upcoming awards.

Dear Friend,

There are tremendous things going on at the grassroots level in this country, yet many will go unnoticed by the mainstream media.

This is why our friends at the Sam Adams Alliance have put together an awards program to highlight some of the tremendous work being done at the local and state levels to advance liberty and freedom in this country.

The Sam Adams Alliance sponsors an annual contest and awards show called the “Sammies” to honor activists, bloggers, videographers, and other new media users who independently work to support free market ideas, and advocate for government transparency.

They are currently looking for activists to enter the 3rd Annual Sammies. If you led effective activism in 2009, enter now. You have nothing to lose, and thousands of dollars to gain!

Cash prizes totaling $20,000 will be awarded to individuals who make significant contributions to the advancement of economic and individual liberty in the following categories:

·         Blogger: Cover state and local issues in your blog? Broken a story recently? An award for a dedicated citizen journalist who not only breaks the story but who strategically frames the debate: $3,000.

·         Video: Know how to edit video? Have the skills to go viral? An award for an exceptional online video that  presents the ideals of liberty in relation to a contemporary issue: $3,000.

·         Watchdog: Fancy yourself a private eye? Good with FOIA? An award for an intrepid citizen investigator who uncovers government waste, abuse, patronage, and/or fraud: $3,000.

·         Town Hall: Give a town hall speech? Capture it on video? An award for an individual who delivered an eloquent and passionate town hall speech and, moreover, used that experience as a launchpad to speak out on other issues and work for local change: $3,000.

·         Tea Party: Organize a tea party? Turn that protest into concrete action? An award for the leader of a successful and ongoing local tea party movement: $3,000.

·         Modern-Day Sam Adams: The grand prize. An award for a remarkable individual who achieved a major political victory for freedom: $5,000.

The theme of this year's Sammies, "We Are All Activists Now,"draws inspiration from 2009's historic explosion of political engagement, manifest in tea parties, town halls, and a surge of citizen leadership at the state and local levels.

All entries are due by February 17, 2010, and winners will be flown to Chicago and awarded at a red-carpet event in April.

I'm sure we can all agree that 50 minutes is PLENTY of time to interrogate a terrorist.

From The Washington Examiner via Gateway Pundit:

On “Fox News Sunday,” host Chris Wallace asked White House spokesman Robert Gibbs whether President Obama was informed of the decision to read Abdulmutallab his Miranda rights before or after it was done. Gibbs avoided the question, saying, “That decision was made by the Justice Department and the FBI, with experienced FBI interrogators.” Gibbs stressed that “Abdulmutallab was interrogated and valuable intelligence was gotten as a result of that interrogation.”

Wallace pressed. “But we now find out he was interrogated for 50 minutes,” he said to Gibbs. “When they came back, he was read his Miranda rights and he clammed up.”

“No,” Gibbs answered. “Again, he was interrogated. Valuable intelligence was gotten based on those interrogations. And I think the Department of Justice and the — made the right decision, as did those FBI agents.”

“Let me just press one last question,” Wallace said. “You really don’t think that if you’d interrogated him longer that you might have gotten more information, since we now know that Al Qaeda in Yemen — ”

“Well, FBI interrogators believe they got valuable intelligence and were able to get all that they could out of him,” Gibbs said.

“All they could?” Wallace asked.

“Yeah,” Gibbs said.

Now we have bin Laden sending out a message, and IntelCenter, a group that monitors Islamist websites is saying this about it:

"The Osama bin Laden audio message released to Al-Jazeera on 24 January 2010 contains specific language used by bin Laden in his statements in advance of attacks," IntelCenter said in a statement.

The group said it considered the language "a possible indicator of an upcoming attack" in the next 12 months.

Is this really the time to start allowing terrorists to lawyer up and avoid the type of interrogation necessary to keep this country safe?  Nobody believes that 50 minutes is enough interrogation time to get all the information necessary out of someone that was going to blow up an airplane.  It doesn't seem to me that he would be very forthcoming with information to help us when just hours before he was willing to die for his evil cause.

Obama is going to destroy this country one way or another

I am listening to the Obamacare speech.  My God, he is such a liar.  Oh, so Obamacare will not insure illegal immigrants.  Right.  And no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions.

No, you jerk.  We believe government will takeover the insurance industry because it is true!  It's right there in the bill that if your insurance changes in any way, you will not be able to keep it.

He actually said that companies that don't provide health insurance have an "unfair advantage" over other companies.  Is he saying that all companies should be equal?  How far a step is it to demand that all people be equal and all wealth be redistributed?

Breaking News: Insurance companies try to make money.  They are not charities, for crying out loud!!  We have such a sense of entitlement in this country.  I am uninsurable.  We cannot get private health insurance because of an incurable genetic disease I have.  So my husband makes sure that he is able to be covered under a group policy.  If he had to go out and get a crappy job that he hated, he would do that because that's what it takes.

What is wrong with people paying for the services they receive?

I'm against Medicare, President Obama.  I am also against Social Security.  I am also against the Federal Department of Education.  I am against Government interfering where it is not allowed by the Constitution.

I can't take him anymore.  I look forward to Mark Levin ripping him apart when KFAQ airs it after the speech.
